Atmosphere was nominated as one of the Best Independent PR Agencies to Work For in EMEA. It ranked third in the region in this category and was the only African agency to make the list as released by PRovoke Media.

PRovoke Media, previously The Holmes Report, showcases the best global PR practices and then rewards exceptional work through its annual SABRE Awards.

"During 2020, the focus at Atmosphere was on staff wellness and the company made a commitment to keep every job; all salaries and benefits were maintained while food vouchers were provided to family members of our staff who were in need during the first months of the Covid-19 pandemic," says director of Atmosphere Bukelwa Monqo.

All staff members have 24 / 7 access to a paid-for trauma councillor and free online coaching sessions with a registered specialist. The agency has a transparent and a 'no closed doors' policy and each team member has full insight into our performance, pitches, revenues, fees, invoices and client contracts.

"Staff can track and understand exactly how they add value to our clients and the agency and they can see first-hand how they contribute towards the profit share pool. We remain deeply committed to creating a culture that gives our staff an opportunity to learn and grow," says Mongo.

"Team members also receive cash spot incentives for positive client endorsements and over the past two years we have assisted qualifying staff members by providing financial support to families of their staff when it comes to education," Mogo adds.

Atmosphere received the accolades as PRISA's Best Mid-Size Agency of the Year at the annual PRISM Awards. This is the fifth time in the last seven years. It also secured three awards for clients DSTV and Cadbury.

"We have entered the PRISMs consistently over the last 15 years and are currently the most awarded agency in its history. In our latest tally, we realised we had won the most Gold Awards and have been awarded the Campaign of the Year Award and the coveted Best Agency mantel at least five times each," says Mongo.

Atmosphere Communications was the first PR agency in South Africa to participate in the Relationship Audits and Management RADAR survey some six years ago. The audit surveys clients on all levels and provides a one number score to summarise the overall relationship between the agency and its clients.

For the last six years, Atmosphere says that its scores have risen consistently and in 2021, the overall score was eight out of 10; and the likelihood of clients to recommend Atmosphere came in at 8.4 out of 10, which is more than 10% above the industry standard.

"When clients rate Chemistry and Working Relationship, Quality of People and Valuable Strategic Partner sections on average as eight or above, we know that we are doing something right. We pride ourselves on building long-lasting relationships with our clients and showing value and excellent results in all that we do," concludes Monqo.
